Streetscape Planning
East Jefferson Avenue Streetscape Project
Last updated in 1980, East Jefferson Avenue from Alter Road to Dickerson Avenue will soon see over $7 million in new streetscape improvements. Plans include a passive landscaped median, new lights, sidewalks and street trees.
In 2005, JEBA commission the architectural firm of Hamilton Anderson to produce a comprehensive streetscape and parking plan. In 2007, JEBA was awarded $50,000 from Hudson Webber and $50,000 from the City of Detroit to commission streetscape construction documents. JEBA is currently working with the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation and City of Detroit Planning & Development Department to commission construction. JEBA is actively fundraising to cover construction and future maintenance costs for the Streetscape.
Alter Road Transformation Project (ART)
As part of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation’s (LISC) Metro Detroit Investment Initiative, JEBA is spearheading the physical planning portion of the Alter Road Transformation Project. This project seeks to break down the physical and psychological barrier that separates the City of Detroit from it’s eastern suburbs.
To reduce the physical differences between Detroit and the City of Gross Pointe Park, JEBA will coordinating the development of a comprehensive development plan for Alter Road from Jefferson Avenue to Mack Avenue. Additionally, JEBA will be designing and constructing four distinctive gateways along Alter Road.
JEBA is partnering with U-Snap-BAC, Warren Conner Development Corporation and the Detroit Gross Pointe Collaborative to transform Alter Road.
