Creating a Clean and Welcoming Environment
“I come in early every morning to get ready and I see that the trash has already been picked up. I never have to worry about clearing away trash from my storefront because the outside always looks great.”
— Tom Woolsey, Owner Andrews on the Corner

Domestic and Intimate Partner Abuse Prevention and Support
In the heart of our communities, we face the ongoing challenge of domestic and intimate partner violence (DIPV). In partnership with the AmeriCorps Detroit Urban Safety (AMUS) program and Wayne State University’s Center for Urban Studies, we’ve crafted a dedicated response that combines empathy with determination.
JEI funds the placement of two Domestic Violence Advocates (DVAs) - stationed in the 5th and 7th precincts. Our DVAs offer the following support for DIPV survivors:
-
Developing personalized safety plans
-
Petitions for personal protection orders (PPOs)
-
Connections to other supportive services, such as counseling, shelter and other community connections
