Confidence, One Thursday at a Time: Ms. Reffiggee’s Digital Learning Journey

At JEI, the AT&T Connected Learning Center (CLC), at the Neighborhood Resource Hub, continues to be more than a computer lab, it is a place where community members build confidence, access opportunity, and move forward. 🌟 

Meet Ms. Reffiggee. 

Every Thursday, she walks into the CLC ready to learn. She has been coming faithfully for

the past several months for her weekly digital training sessions. When she first started, she did not know how to turn on a computer, let alone access her email. After just a few sessions, she came in with excitement, turned on the computer, accessed the internet, and logged into her email account, all without assistance.

That moment was more than a computer skill; it was confidence in motion. Now in her retirement years, today’s economy has made returning to work a necessity fr Ms. Reffiggee. She is searching for employment where she can apply her skills and experience, but for many adults and seniors, navigating an online job search can feel intimidating.

As a result of AT&T's Achievery training modules, along with the SkillBlox curriculum

offered through our partnership with World Education, Inc., Ms. Reffigee is learning through engaging, beginner-friendly online lessons that are helping her plan, organize, and draft her resume. The final product will be one that she can use to apply for jobs. She is also learning how to navigate the internet for her job search and complete online applications, all at her own pace. 🖥️ 

She never misses a week, and she arrives excited about her progress. As Ms. Reffiggee often exclaims, “Now, I don’t have to wait on my granddaughter to visit for help. I can do everything on my own. I’m so proud of me!” 

We’re proud of her, too! 🥰 This is the power of digital inclusion. 💫
