Spring Forward, Stay Ready: Why Weatherization Still Matters Even in Warmer Months

As spring brings sunshine, blossoms, and fresh energy to our neighborhoods, it’s easy to forget about the systems in our homes that keep us safe and comfortable year-round—like heating and hot water. While we may be turning off the furnace and cracking open the windows, reliable heat and hot water are still essential, especially during Michigan’s unpredictable weather patterns and cool nights.

Weatherize your home this spring!

At Jefferson East, Inc. (JEI), we want to remind our homeowners that spring is the perfect time to plan ahead—and that includes preparing your home through weatherization.

Our team works closely with DTE’s Energy Efficiency Assistance (EEA) Program to support homeowners in accessing weatherization services that improve home energy efficiency, reduce utility costs, and protect long-term health and safety.

These services include:

  • Insulation and air sealing

  • Furnace and water heater repairs or replacements

  • Energy-efficient upgrades that keep your home safe in all seasons

Even though warmer weather is on the way, ensuring your systems are updated and efficient now can prevent costly repairs later—and help you stay ready for anything Michigan’s weather throws our way.

Questions about our weatherization program? Contact the Neighborhood Resource Hub at 313-314-6414.

Please note: Over 600 homeowners are currently on our waitlist, so the earlier you sign up, the better your chances of securing support in upcoming rounds.

Let’s spring forward together—with stronger homes and healthier neighborhoods.
