Weatherization Works: $1.2M In Energy Upgrades Delivered to East Jefferson Residents

As fall approaches and temperatures begin to dip, we’re taking a moment to celebrate the tremendous impact of our weatherization work through the now-completed DTE Energy Efficiency Assistance (EEA) Program.

While the DTE EEA program has now ended, the impact it made throughout our community will be felt for years to come. Through our partnership with DTE, JEI was able to deliver $1.2 million in critical energy efficiency upgrades to homeowners throughout the East Jefferson corridor in 2025 alone.

Here’s what we accomplished together in 2025:

• 90 households received energy-saving installations

• 160 weatherization measures completed—helping keep the cold out and the warmth in

• 4 full roof replacements done for homes in serious need

• An average of $14,000 invested per household

• In total, $1.2 million in improvements delivered directly into homes located in our neighborhoods 

• 
  

From upgraded insulation and sealed drafts to new furnaces and water heaters, this work wasn’t just about energy—it was about dignity, relief, and peace of mind for families who needed it most.

We know the need doesn’t stop here. Though we’re no longer accepting new applications through this program, we’re still actively serving the 600+ homeowners who were already on our list—and we remain committed to finding new ways to support and strengthen our community.
